A Blog Aboot Hockey

Great win for the team last night in Denver. Marian played like a Top 5 player in the league, Backstrom was solid and they put some distance between themselves and the Avalanche. Losing Manny won't be a huge loss for this team; Backstrom is Mr. Consistent, albelit not spectacular, and won't let many softies in. We're comin, and we're headed for the No. 3 seed when all is said and done.

If you haven't done so already, I heartily recommend checking out Star Tribune writer Michael Russo's blog. Russo's a true hockey expert who covers the team for the paper and his blog has been great so far, with plenty of tidbits about the team that you wouldn't know. He also shares his knowledge of the Florida Panthers, the team he covered for a decade before moving north.

Two huge appetizer nights coming up: tomorrow night the Wild are in Phoenix, so I'm going to go Southwestern and make some fajitas for the game. For Super Bowl Sunday I'm undecided as of now; your suggestions are welcome.

Anonymous here. For the Super Bowl, that's easy: Ditka, Polish Sausage and Maalox. Final score: Bears 187, Colts 3. Wear a fake mustache (or a real one if you got one) Ditka shades and talk with a Chicago accent (an Iron Range accent would be a close enough approximation). That's my plan at least.

I like the way the Wild have been playing of late, but they could still tighten up a few areas. Calgary and Vancouver are also playing as well as anyone so it's going to be a scrap to see who takes the division.

Good call. With da Bears in da big game I will go Chicago-esque and make some polish sausage and kraut.

We had a sweet time at the Avs-Wild game... wish the Dogs had done as well last night. Well, there's always tonight!

Also, WALZ SUCKED BIG TIME. And there was some girl with a "Marry Me Skoula" sign... I don't know why.

RWD: Forget the Sammy's pizza, I'm jealous now. Too bad the Dogs couldn't make it a perfect trip.
