Hockey Books

I am going on vacation soon (Disneyworld here we come) and I am need of some help. I'd like to bring a hockey book with me to read on the plane, but there seems to be a shortage of good hockey books. I've read Ken Dryden's "The Game" and the book about fighting "The Code". Dryden's book was much better than the fighting book, by the way. I was thinking about maybe picking up either "Searching for Bobby Orr" or the Buccigross-penned "Jonesey". Anyone have any thoughts?

And if anyone sees someone walking around Epcot wearing a Pavol Demitra jersey, stop me and say hello.

Update: I forgot to say that I also just finished John Rosengren's "Blades of Glory". It's written in the style of "Friday Night Lights," in a Minnesota high school hockey sense. It's an ok book, but Rosengren does get way too schmaltzy for my taste.

McCown's Law: The 100 Greatest Hockey Arguments (by Bob McCown) is a pretty interesting read

I liked Adrian Dater's "Blood Feud". It's about the rivalry between the Avs and Red Wings back when it was at its bloodiest.

If you have a kid in hockey, "The Hockey Dad Chronicles" by Ed Wenck is pretty funny.

I thought "Gretzky to Lemiuex" was pretty interesting. I've heard good things about "The King of Russia" but havent had a chance to read it.

Thanks, I'll look for these at the store tomorrow. I'm a bit Red Wings-out right now, so I'll probably pass on "Blood Feud".

Jean Beliveau's biography is also REALLY good.

Get either of the Dave Bidini hockey books (Tropic of Hockey or The Best Game You Can Name). They aren't the most insightful, but they are both great reads. For some hockey history, get Game Misconduct, by Russ Conway. It's about the Alan Eagleson years and the corruption in the NHLPA. For those who don't know, things have never been right there.

Or, for a nice feel good read, Home Ice by Jack Falla is light and fun.
