With news that Alex Tanguay simply used the Wild's one year, $2.5m offer as leverage for obtaining a more lucrative offer from the Lightning, it's time to move on to the next possible target. I submit that this should be Maxim Afinogenov.
Reasons? (1) He's a talented offensive player and the team could certainly use another weapon. (2) At this late time of the FA signing period, one would think he'd come at an affordable price tag. (3) I would LOVE a player named Maxim. I see myself shouting at the TV "Maxim!" Maxim and Marty, think of the possibilities.
Then again, maybe it's best not to spend the money at this point. The team is very close to the cap and it might be a good idea to save the money for future deals.
